$ javac

If you already installed java on your system, then it will show you java files installed on your system. If you haven’t installed java on your system, then the above command will show you the name of java packages that you can install on your system.

Step 3 : Next, download the XDM package named as Xdman.zip file from the download link as we have mentioned above in this post.

Step 4 : Next, now extract the download xdman.zip using gunzip command or you can also extract the archive by right clicking on it and selecting “Extract here” option from the menu.

Step 5 : Next, run the following command to change you current directory to extracted directory using cd command.

$ cd xdman

Step 6 : Finally, run the following command in the terminal to run the xdman.sh script on your Ubuntu system.

$ sh xdman.sh

or you can also use

$ ./xdman.sh

From above mentioned two commands you can use only command to use XDM n your Ubuntu system. The functionality of both the commands are same, so use any one of them in the terminal to use XDM on your Ubuntu system.

Microsoft has unveiled the new Xbox, and it’s called Xbox One. It’s Microsoft’s first new console in over seven years. Yes, we’ve hadmany expectations for this console, especially since Sony and Nintendo have already taken their first steps in the next-gen landscape. Here’s what you need to know that was announced at Microsoft’s event in Redmond.

The original Xbox debuted in the fall of 2005, which feels like a million years ago…even if it’s only seven and a half. It’s high time for a new console, even if some tech pundits are questioning the value of gaming hardware platforms in the current age.

The Xbox One is large, sleek, black, and looks like a piece of AV equipment. The controller and Kinect unit are redesigned, too. Xbox promises that this is a better-connected way of linking TV, games and entertainment in one unit–something the Xbox 360 already does, but will do more via commands like “Xbox On.”

Home Entertainment

Microsoft promises you’re “going to have a relationship with your TV.” The next Xbox tries to take on a living room that has become “too complex,” and make a system that knits games, TV and entertainment.

So, how will that happen?

There are universal gestures such as grab and pan and swipe up: watching live TV will involve maximizing and minimizing the screen in a top corner. Live TV will be part of the Xbox One experience.

The Xbox One knits together new voice commands to do some PC-like stuff: order movie tickets, for instance, engage in Skype, or pull up fantasy sports stats while watching a game.

As the device continues to arrive at various shores across the world, the debate rages on as to whether the Samsung Galaxy S4 is indeed worthy of its position as Android’s poster boy. The latest in an immensely popular series, the Galaxy S4 dramatically improves on its predecessor in terms of hardware features, but opinion remains divided on whether it is a true humdinger, or just another re-hash of the same old rhetoric. Consumer Reports has waded into the debate with its latest research, which suggests that in actual fact, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is in fact the real deal, with its scrutiny of the device struggling to pick out any major faults or issues. Indeed, Consumer Reports even goes as far as to conclude that the Korean company’s latest and greatest is actually better than anything else you’re likely to find right now, and if you’re intrigued as to why this is, check out the details after the break!

Consumer Reports is world renowned for its objective reporting and analyses of various products, and when it comes to the biggest smartphone releases, the world always seems anxious to hear the verdict. While tech analysts, experts and consumers have had conflicting views on whether the Galaxy S4 lives up to the hype, Consumer Reports found the device to excel in practically every department.

Heaping praise upon the handset’s much-improved 13-megapixel shooter, Consumer Reports noted that “the S4 delivered top-notch performance in the most critical areas of our tests, including the camera.” Equally impressive was the 1080p Super AMOLED HD display, which allowed Consumer Reports’ Mike Gikas to really enjoy watching videos on the Galaxy S 4.

Gikas describes the general performance as “top-notch,”and although there are plenty of other high-end smartphones like the HTC One and iPhone 5 vying for supremacy in the market, there’s no doubt that, in terms of hardware, the Galaxy S4 is right at the top of the field.

We have an extensive review of the Samsung Galaxy S4 coming up very shortly in which we’ll be casting our opinions on whether we agree with this report, assessing whether we feel the Galaxy S4 is indeed the best smartphone on the market right now, specifically when compared to the HTC One. Having used it for the past couple of days already, the omens are definitely good, and although it does bear striking similarities to the old S3, the performance renders it a completely different animal.

Ever since Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype in 2011, people with a predilection for secret communications have been increasingly suspicious of the massively popular VoIP app’s claims surrounding privacy. And over the past week, reports have shown just how muchMicrosoft can see of people’s messages.

Simple technical tests proved a Microsoftmachine accessed links sent over Skype. According to, Ars Technica, that has provenMicrosoft can and does look at plain text sent by users. This has blown away the myth thatSkype provides end-to-end encryption, it was suggested.

A Skype spokesperson sent the following from its privacy policy: “Skype uses automated scanning within Instant Messages and SMS to (a) identify suspected spam and/or (b) identify URLs that have been previously flagged asspam, fraud, or phishing links.”

Another section of the policy reads: “Skype will retain your information for as long as is necessary to: (1) fulfill any of the Purposes (as defined in article 2 of this Privacy Policy) or (2) comply with applicable legislation, regulatory requests and relevant orders from competent courts.”

Privacy problems in Skype

Skype does store information on users’ interactions and it can access communications when it chooses, albeit by a scanning tool called SmartScreen. It remains unclear how exactly the technology decides which messages to scan, which has concerned some.

Microsoft is doing so largely for security purposes, to check links aren’t pointing users to malicious sites, and to respond to law enforcement requests when they come in. As noted in Microsoft’s first ever transparency report from earlier this year, the UK police are particularly hungry for Skype data, making more requests for it than any other force in the world.

So it’s all written out for users that Skype does not offer 100 percent privacy protection, although a little more transparency on this stuff from Microsoft would be much appreciated.

Yet it’s odd Skype is taking such a battering when other communications services people blindly trust are just as open to privacyinfringements.

Take Apple’s Facetime and messaging services, for instance. Apple does not tell users what kind of encryption it is running, or where keys are stored. That makes it awfully hard to trust.

Then there’s the upstarts, of which WhatsApp and Viber are seemingly leading the pack. Security experts agree that when it comes to security, they aren’t the best options around. When ex-Twitter lead and privacy expert Moxie Marlinspike was asked to help set up a surveillance operation in Saudi Arabia, he was tasked with spying on users of those two apps (something he would never do, of course).

His advice to users? “It might be prudent to think about avoiding insecure communication tools like WhatsApp and Viber (TextSecure and RedPhone could serve as appropriate secure replacements).”

Indeed, users don’t have to put up with technologies that don’t offer them full privacy, or something close to it. There’s a simple fact (one that the government appears to just ignore in its repeated attempts to increase their access to citizens’ comms data): the technology to help you get almost 100 percent private communications is available. It’s just not in common use.

A Silent Circle

Just yesterday I met up with Silent Circle, founded by two former US Navy SEALs and one of the creators of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy), a legendary and still much-used encrypted mail service that was a bete noire of US law enforcement in the 90s. Silent Circle offers encrypted VoIP, text and email, and it looks like an attractive proposition for the privacyconscious.

It uses the Secure Real-time Transport Protocol, which sees each user agree on the key exchange. The keys themselves are generated on the end user’s device – Silent Circle doesn’t touch them (unless a Silent Circle user is talking with a non-user, when a server is used in the middle to connect the two). That makes for rather secret communications.

The company’s servers, which contain no user data, are based in Canada (some in Switzerland are being set up too), where privacy laws are strong, Phil Zimmermann, PGP creator, president and co-founder, tells me. Even if a government legally asked it to open up itssystems, there would be almost nothing to hand over, other than a customer database. The users have the power over their comms, not the supplier.

Zimmermann (pictured) won’t base servers in the US anyway, where “privacy has been eroded since 9/11”, he says. Now, where do Apple, Microsoft and others have their servers?

The catch with Silent Circle? You have to pay $20 a month unless you’re part of a human rights organisation, who get the software for free.

For those who don’t want to pay, get a decent VPN, like HideMyAss, use the Tor Network, or set up communications with the Internet Protocol security (IPsec). Last time I spoke about problems with Skype privacy, I talked about CertiVox, which isn’t too dissimilar from Silent Circle, especially given their shared passion for human rights. Using any of these services is a little more bothersome than downloading a Silent Circle app, which works oniOS and Android, but they all offer you a similar level of protection.

If there’s one thing that BlackBerry can be proud of, it’s the BBM messaging service. I think that everyone can say that for the majority – if not all – of the BlackBerry users they know, BBM was the thing that clinched the deal. Of course, we have heard of BBM outages happening, with users feeling like they’ve been cut off from the rest of the world. Never mind that they can only use BBM with the handful of other BlackBerry users in their circle.

This situation is about to change, though, as BlackBerry has just announced that it is going to release BBM for Android and iOS come summer. This season is always an exciting one for many reasons, but for users of BBM who may have been wanting to expand their circles to non-BlackBerry friends, this summer is really something to look forward to.

According to BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins, “It’s time to bring BBM to a greater audience, no matter what mobile device they carry.” He also gives assurance that BBM for Android and iOS will not be merely crippled copycat versions. He adds, “We’re starting with messaging and groups, but we’ll bring voice, screen share, and of course, channels later on.”

Of course, we can’t ignore the fact that BlackBerry has to rely on Apple and Google’s approval. Without that stamp, BBM for Android and iOS might just be a flop. Or might not even happen. If it does happen, users who want to connect via BBM will be able to do so by downloading the free app.

On another note, this development brings up an interesting idea: “Every major mobile competitor makes apps for iOS.” Google makes apps for iOS (How do we live without Google Maps?). Microsoft also has apps for iOS. Nokia has Here Maps. That may not be every competitor, but it does give you something to think about.
